Baeron Holy Ground is the 10th scenic view of the Ten Scenic Views of Jecheon and its name was derived from its shape, which looks like the bottom of a ship. During the Catholic Persecution of 1801, Hwang Sa-yeong wrote the white paper at the holy ground, which is home to the tomb of Priest Choe Yang-eop and Korea’s first school to teach new learning. Therefore, Baeron Holy Ground is called the land of history, learning, and sanctuary. In Baeron Holy Ground there are 2 Cultural Tourism Interpreters to give general information about travelling in Jecheon and the history and cultural stories of Baeron Holy Ground. You can enjoy the purest herb tea in Korea.

  • Public Transportation


    The bus heading from Jecheon to Baeron runs 4 times a day (05:45∼18:40). Pass Bongyang-myeon and then get off Baeron Holy Ground. The bus from Baeron to Jecheon runs 4 times a day (06:55~19:55). Besides that you can take the direct bus which runs 13 times a day. Get off Taksajeong Pavilionand walk for 30 minutes to get there.

    From Dongseoul Bus Terminal the bus runs every 30 minutes 31 times a day (06:30∼21:00). The ticket costs KRW10,800 and the travel time is 2 hours. The express bus runs from Gangnam Express Bus Terminal (Monday ~ Thursday 06:10~20:50 <20 times>) (Weekends 06:10~21:30 <27 times>). The regular bus costs KRW9,800 and the premium bus costs KRW14,300. The travel time is 2 hours.

    Jecheong Express / Intercity Bus Terminal: Intercity Bus Terminal Woori Bank Bus Stop (852) -> Taksajeong Pavilion Bus Stop (50 min.)

    When going by train, take the Mugunghwa Train of the Jungang Line departing from Cheongnyangni Station. The first train leaves at 06:40 and the last train leaves at 23:25. It runs 18 times a day and takes 2 hours 30 minutes. The ticket costs KRW9,400.

    Jecheon Station: Move your feet on 15 min. -> Bukseong Yeollip Bus Stop (852) -> Baeron Holy Ground Bus Stop (40 min.)

  • By Car


    Move from Jecheon towards Bongyang (National Road 38) Bongyang Samgeori → In the direction of Wonju (National Road 5) → Before arriving at Taksajeong Pavilion, Baeron Holy Ground Samgeori → Cross Baerongyo Bridge in the 9 o’clock direction for around 5 minutes to reach Baeron Holy Ground. If you use the express way, get off in Jecheon IC and move in the direction of Bongyang . Wonju.
